Description
Nothing screams Halloween like this Sanderson Sisters Snack Board! This Hocus Pocus themed charcuterie board is embarrassingly easy, completely customizable, and both kid and adult-friendly! Top it off with a spell book brownie for the most creative way to celebrate the Halloween season!
Ingredients
Customizable but I recommend:
3 mini brie wheels
Pepperoni slices
Cheese curds
A black edible marker/pen
Red cookie icing with a narrow dispensing nozzle
Thin wheat breadsticks
String cheese
Blackberries, blueberries, raspberries
A green, red and orange bell pepper
Mini cucumbers
At least one fresh pea pod
Pretzel thins, crackers, grapes, honey, additional meats, cheese, fruits, cookies or candies
Instructions
- Start with 3 small wheels of brie, spaced accordingly to leave room for their bodies and hair. Add their hair by using cheese curds for Sarah, rolled pepperoni slices for Winifred and blackberries for Mary. (See prep notes below for tips.)
- Draw their faces onto the brie using a black edible marker/pen and red cookie icing with a narrow dispensing nozzle.
- Build the witch's outfits by using a combination of berries for Sarah, blackberries and sliced mini cucumbers for Winifred, and clementine slices for Mary. Outline each outfit with sliced bell peppers to make their capes and add a few criss-crossed slices to look like their corsets. Slice open a fresh pea pod to make a necklace for Winifred.
- Complete the board by filling in empty spaces with crackers, pretzels, nuts, cheese, grapes and honey. Add in three witch brooms, made out of thin wheat breadsticks ad string cheese. (See prep notes below for tips.)
Notes
- Shopping: When you buy the cookie icing, make sure to get it in a bottle with a narrow dispensing nozzle to easily design their mouths. The edible black marker I found on Amazon but you may also be able to find them at Walmart, Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
- Substitutions: Many substitutions can be made to this Hocus Pocus charcuterie board! You can use strawberries instead of raspberries, grapes instead of blueberries or blackberries, kiwis or broccoli in place of mini cucumbers and cubed white cheese in place of curds.
- Prep: For placing the pepperoni for Winifred's hair, I recommend using toothpicks to hold each rolled piece and creating a triangle (two on the first--three on the next--up to 6 and then back down). For making the broomsticks, use kitchen shears to cut half a string cheese to look like broom bristles, then use a small knife to cut a hole in the string cheese before pressing in the breadstick (to prevent them from snapping as easily). Tie an extra strand of string cheese around the top to create the broom binding.
- Storage: This Sanderson Sisters Snack board can be made in advance and stored in a sealed or covered container until ready to serve. However, wait until serving to draw on their faces, as the color can begin to bleed when left out for too long.
